CROSSING GUARD

The City of La Habra is currently recruiting for the position of Crossing Guard.  Crossing Guards work various split-shift hours, Monday through Friday.

Duties include crossing school age children across the street on their way to and from school.  Crossing Guards work split shifts covering morning hours, noon hours, and afternoon hours. 

Examples of Duties

  • Must have the ability to safely escort children across the street.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time while holding a stop sign.
  • Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Must have the ability to respond to a La Habra crossing guard location within a short period of time.
  • Must have the ability to stay alert and to hear and see surrounding traffic.

Typical Qualifications

License Requirement:
A California Class C driver’s license is required.

Application Process:
Applications will be screened and those with the most suitable qualifications will be invited for an oral interview. The final candidate must successfully complete a drug screening, employment history verification, and DMV check and will be fingerprinted for a criminal history check with the Department of Justice.
